Steel Retention Tank Selection App

The HelCor steel retention tank sizing application has been developed based on ViaCon StormWater Solutions – modern stormwater retention systems made of HelCor spiral corrugated steel pipes, compliant with the EN 1090 standard. The tool enables fast and intuitive selection of a suitable retention tank, taking into account technical parameters, required storage capacity, and individual project conditions.

In just a few simple steps, the calculator allows users to select the optimal solution from a wide range of HelCor tanks, characterized by high structural strength, low self-weight, short installation time, and effective corrosion protection. The system also includes the option of applying an additional WProtect (Trench Coating) polymer coating, ensuring corrosion protection durability exceeding 100 years.

The tool supports the design of tanks in various shapes and dimensions, individually tailored to project requirements. After completing the selection process, the user receives a summary of the key technical parameters of the tank, a proposed system configuration, and the option to generate a PDF file containing a summary of the selected solution.

Retention Tank Capacity Calculation

To perform the calculations and select the appropriate retention tank capacity, the user must provide the basic design parameters related to installation conditions, system hydraulics, and rainfall data. The calculator takes into account both site constraints and discharge parameters, while using the PANDa rainfall model.

The following data is required to perform the calculations:

  • tank installation parameters: maximum installation length and width, minimum cover height, and maximum installation depth,
  • hydraulic system parameters: inlet and outlet diameters, flow time through the sewer, and allowable discharge limit,
  • catchment and site data: type of terrain and reduced catchment area Fz,
  • rainfall calculation parameters: risk coefficient, rainfall model, rainfall probability, and design rainfall frequency.

Based on the entered parameters, the calculator determines the required retention volume and selects the optimal HelCor tank solution adapted to the project conditions.

Retention Tank Selection Results

Based on the provided information, the calculator determines:

  • the minimum required retention tank volume,
  • total inflow and outflow values for the tank,
  • the recommended HelCor tank configuration,
  • technical parameters of the selected solution, such as nominal diameter DN, installation length and width, number of rows, and segments,
  • the effective tank capacity and filling height.

The calculator also presents a list of possible retention tank variants, enabling comparison of technical parameters and selection of the solution best suited to the project requirements.

Tank Layout Preview

After selecting the appropriate solution, the user can display a detailed schematic of the selected retention tank. The calculator provides three different views presenting the system configuration: a 3D view, a top view showing the arrangement of tank rows, and a cross-sectional view presenting the filling level and the main geometric parameters. This allows for quick analysis of the tank layout and better adaptation of the solution to the project conditions.
