Retention Tank Selection Application

The Retention Tank Selection Application enables civil engineers, drainage designers, and landscape architects to quickly select suitable retention tank solutions in accordance with DWA-A 117. In just a few steps, users can enter project-specific parameters, allowing the application to automatically calculate the required storage volume and recommend appropriate system configurations.

The calculations are based on the defined catchment areas, hydraulic design parameters, and integrated rainfall data (e.g. KOSTRA DWD). This ensures reliable and realistic results for the design of modern stormwater retention systems.

Infiltration System AquaCell

The infiltration system application was created in cooperation with Wavin Polska and Wavin Hungary. It allows the selection of infiltration tanks and horizontal infiltration pipes based on the DWA-A-138 guidelines. Depending on the surface of the area from which rainwater is collected and the type of soil, you receive the selection of an optimized infiltration system based on the adopted model of rain distribution. This means that the system is selected for the most critical parameters provided for given conditions.

Wavin AquaCell is a modular rainwater drainage system that can be used in both simple and reinforced (double) designs, thus covering the widest range of load-bearing requirements. It is suitable for treating rainwater in green areas, residential areas, parking lots and roads, as well as in commercial and industrial zones. Thanks to its stackable design, it takes up much less space on construction sites and can be transported more efficiently than other models. It can be inspected and cleaned via a test channel.

The selection of a rainwater drainage system depends on the terrain and soil type. It is also possible to adapt the system to the specific intensity and duration of rainfall, which allows for optimal rainwater treatment. The application uses an atlas available for 69 regions of Hungary based on data collected by 100 automatic measuring stations to obtain the size of the given drainage field. In Poland, the application uses the Polish Atlas of Design Rainfall Intensities PANDa. The atlas contains precise data from the last 30 years for a spatial resolution of 5 x 5 km.

As a result of the selection, you will receive a calculation that includes the number of required elements and data about the tank, such as its dimensions, water capacity and structure. In addition, it is possible to download DWG drawings and other materials for the given desiccant system.

The application is available in Poland and Hungary.

Swale and infiltration basins calculator

The Swale and Infiltration Basins Sizing Application was developed by experts from RetencjaPL. The tool is based on the ATV-A138 (2005) guidelines and is designed to provide fast and accurate support for the design of stormwater management systems based on infiltration.

Its primary function is to determine the required area and parameters of swales and infiltration surfaces that enable effective infiltration of stormwater into the ground, while in the case of swales also providing temporary retention. These solutions support the natural water cycle, reduce stormwater discharge into drainage systems, and help minimize the risk of overloading stormwater infrastructure.

Infiltration basins serve an infiltration function only and represent the solution closest to natural conditions. They are typically permeable, vegetated areas located adjacent to impervious surfaces such as roads, sidewalks, squares, parking lots, terraces, or courtyards.

Swales are shallow, properly shaped depressions designed to allow stormwater infiltration into the ground while simultaneously providing temporary surface retention. Their filling depth does not exceed 30 cm.

The calculator enables the selection and sizing of solutions based on key design parameters such as: reduced area Fz [m²], risk factor, rainfall model (e.g. PANDa), rainfall duration [min], rainfall probability [%], available infiltration area [m²], and soil infiltration coefficient kf [m/s].
