Open Tank
The application for selecting a retention tank and retention-infiltration tank was developed in cooperation with TORMEL Sp. z o. o. It is a tool that allows for quick selection of the appropriate tank in accordance with the DWA-A-117 and DWA-A-138 guidelines.
Depending on the terrain conditions intended for the tank, the surface from which rainwater is collected and the type of soil, the user receives a selection of tank variants. Thanks to the possibility of choosing different rainfall models (PAND, Bogdanowicz and Stach’s, Suligowski and Błaszczyk), the user can compare the results of calculations for different tanks.
The application allows for quicker design and matching of the type of retention tank to specific needs and the size of the plot/area at the investor’s disposal in simple steps. It contains useful information for construction planning, such as the dimensions of the tank, information about its construction and the estimated cost of implementation. After selecting the tank, the system generates a file containing the above information.
The application is available in Poland.
Calculating the capacity of a retention tank and a retention-infiltration tank
To perform the calculations, you will need the following data:
- the length and width of the area under the tank,
- the slope inclination,
- the tank elevation,
- the probability of rain occurring expressed as a percentage.
Then you need to enter parameters related to hydrology, such as:
- the area of water collection,
- the type of precipitation,
- the time of runoff delay,
- the risk factor.
This information is crucial for precisely matching the tank to the specific terrain conditions and the needs of the investor.
Retention tank selection results
Based on the information provided, the application performs calculations and the results are presented in a PDF report.
The report contains information on:
- permissible area of the terrain,
- minimum area of the terrain,
- minimum volume of the tank,
- time to empty the tank,
- infiltration area,
- infiltration into the ground.
The application proposes a list of solutions consistent with the calculations performed, while allowing you to download full documentation in PDF format. There is also an option to visualize different shapes of the tank and compare their parameters.
The final results also include a valuation of different structures of the retention or retention-infiltration tank, based on the latest SEKOCENBUD indicators.

Calculation results
