Communication Culverts

The application for road and railway culvert lighting, developed in collaboration with Amiblu, a leading producer and supplier of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester (GRP) pipe systems in Europe, aligns with the ministerial guideline WR-M-12.

This tool allows for the quick selection of the diameter of hydraulic culverts made from pipes manufactured using Hobas and/or Flowtite technology, based on parameters specified by the user. This methodology is applied in calculating the lighting of bridges and sizing hydraulic culverts on natural and artificial watercourses.

After performing the calculations, the user receives the dimensions of the hydraulic culvert, considering the selected parameters and the hydraulic conditions for its operation.

The application is available in Poland.

Selecting a communication culvert

To use the application, the following input data will be required:

  • designed flow,
  • width of the trough bottom,
  • slope slope coefficient,
  • roughness coefficient of the streambed,
  • slope of the culvert bottom and its length,
  • fault at the end of the culvert bottom,
  • number of holes,
  • type of inlet.

Next, you will be able to choose your preferred installation method, such as open trench, trenchless method or renovation of an existing power source.

Results of the selection of a communication culvert

Based on the received data, the application will select a communication culvert that meets all the given parameters.

The report contains information about:

  • measurable flow [Q],
  • height of the road above the bottom of the flow,
  • parameters of the proposed solution,
  • method of installation.

In the last step, it is possible to determine the maximum values ​​for external dimensions, such as height and width, and the height of filling for the selected culverts.
