Road Inlet

The Road and Paved Surface Drainage application using ACO Combipoint point inlets was developed by ACO to assist designers and contractors in the efficient selection of drainage systems. This tool enables the calculation of the required number of ACO Combipoint point inlets, including capacity calculations and the hydraulic characteristics of different types of drains (e.g., curbside, swale drains, etc.). Such components are crucial for managing stormwater in urbanized areas.

With this tool, users can not only choose the appropriate inlet but also receive recommendations regarding their placement within specific catchment areas, dimensions, and the optimal configuration of the system. The application ensures compatibility with current standards and regulations, which is vital for the execution of infrastructure projects.

This tool is indispensable in planning an effective drainage system, which translates to increased safety and durability of road infrastructure.

The application is available in Poland.

Calculating the capacity of a road inlet

The application offers two selection modes:

  • simplified process – designed for users who need a quick solution based on basic data such as the size and type of surface (ideal for initial estimates of the number and types of inlets),
  • advanced process – in this mode you can check whether the division of the main catchment area into individual inlets, already selected by the user, is sufficient to collect water from them. The program will check whether the proposed system will collect all the water, and if necessary, it will propose increasing the number of inlets.

To perform the calculations, the following data are required:

  • probability of rain occurrence expressed as a percentage,
  • frequency of calculated rain,
  • selection of the rainfall model,
  • minimum duration of rain.

Then, the catchment area should be configured, during which the following are required:

  • hydrological data:
    • total catchment area,
    • maximum catchment area per inlet,
    • surface runoff coefficient,
  • hydraulic data:
    • type of sewage,
  • inlet parameters:
    • grid load class,
    • grid variant (flat or concave),
    • type of grate protection in the socket,
    • minimum depression of the bottom of the outlet from the inlet.

Results of selecting the capacity of a road inlet

Based on the information provided, the application calculates:

  • number of collection points,
  • number of sets,
  • intercepted flow,
  • unintercepted flow,
  • grid size,
  • width of the water stream in the sewage,
  • usable height of the tank.

The application will also propose a list of set configurations. Additionally, it is possible to download the full documentation in PDF format.

Żarówka The generated file can later be an attachment to the design documentation.

Calculation results

Once you have made the correct selection, you can download the results as a PDF file and place them in your project.

Additionally, at any time you can directly contact the manufacturer of the solution to ask about the details of the selection, the accuracy of the calculations or request a quote for the solution.
