Gravity Cable
The gravity pipe selection application was developed in cooperation with Uponor Infra, a leading international supplier of plastic pipe systems for underground infrastructure.
Correct dimensioning and selection of the diameter of the pipelines are crucial to ensure their reliable operation for many years.
With this in mind, the gravity pipe selection application was created, which can be used to correctly calculate and select diameters for the entire rainwater pipe. For the selected diameters, PEHD or PP pipelines can be used, connected using socket fittings or extrusion welding.
The gravity pipe dimensioning application calculates based on the Colebrook-White equation.
The application is available in Poland.
Pipeline dimensioning and diameter selection
The application allows you to select the pipe diameter for water flow, divided into sections of the entire pipeline.
Calculations are performed using the maximum intensity method for a pipeline consisting of any number of sections. The sections should be entered in sequence from the beginning of the pipeline (the highest point) to its outlet (the lowest point).

Pipeline section parameters
For each section, we provide the parameters necessary to calculate the flow, such as:
- terrain and channel bottom elevations,
- pipeline section length,
- maximum calculated filling (recommended 75%),
- absolute roughness (Recommended absolute roughness values for new channels are:
- 015÷0.06 mm (0.03 mm) for glued (PVC) and welded (PE) pipes,
- 03÷0.15 mm (0.06 mm) for pipes connected with gaskets and clamps.
The operating value of absolute roughness for plastic channels is greater than 0.1 mm. Most often, k=0.25 mm is assumed for PVC and PE pipes).
Calculation results for gravity pipe selection
The application will generate aggregate parameters for the entire pipeline – total length and flow time.
Then, it is possible to select the maximum diameter and fill percentage for each section.
On this basis, the list of proposed solutions is updated, which we can add to the list and receive by e-mail along with the documentation.
Calculation results
Once you have made the correct selection, you can download the results as a PDF file and place them in your project.
Additionally, at any time you can directly contact the manufacturer of the solution to ask about the details of the selection, the accuracy of the calculations or request a quote for the solution.
